Our movers arrived at our apartment around 11:30 a.m., and because of the challenging layout, they didn’t finish until 9:00 p.m. The path from the truck to our apartment was long ,it required going through the garage, taking the elevators, and then up to our second-floor apartment.David, Dan, and Dareus were our moving crew, and from start to finish they maintained such a positive attitude and incredible work ethic. While I was unpacking and directing where boxes needed to go, they never... slowed down and kept working efficiently all day. I honestly wish they had been given more help because it was a big job, but they made it work without ever complaining. They even stayed until 10:00 p.m. to make sure everything was completed, including setting up our bunk bed and dining table as part of the move. Their dedication and professionalism did not go unnoticed.Thank you, David, Dan, and Dareus, for your hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to getting the job done right. You made what could have been a very stressful and exhausting moving day so much easier. We truly appreciate everything you did!read more

This was a military-related move. Manny, Dakota, Jeramiah, and Anthony were great. Dakota was patient, and explained a lot of what was happening, as my experience with overseas moves is non-existent. Manny and Anthony were professional and asked questions as needed, which I appreciated, because I’ve heard horror stories about military moves and trash bags being packed. So I was happy when Anthony asked me about specific items that he didn’t want to assume were for packing. Jeramiah helped with... my husband’s comic book inventory and made sure our long list of titles was printed and added to our inventory list. He was also very communicative when he was packing up our kitchen, which is probably everyone’s least favorite room. I know it’s my least favorite to pack. All in all, everyone was careful with our things, which I appreciated because it’s easy for someone to just handle items with no care especially if it’s not yours, but knowing how hard my husband and I have worked over the last 20+ years, and all the separations and deployments, a lot of these “things” and “stuff” are our memories of the good, bd, and ugly. So we cherish them. Thank you for taking care of our things. Hopefully the odds will be in our favor at our destination.Paul and Mia Carterread more

Apartment Movers in Olympia and the Greater Puget Sound

Moving for the First Time?

When preparing for your apartment move in Olympia, start by contacting at least three different moving companies to compare quotes. Most movers will schedule a short visit to assess your belongings and give an accurate estimate. Once you agree on a price, you’ll receive an Order for Service outlining the cost and services. Check with your property manager about parking or elevator reservations. If you’re using packing services, your movers will schedule a time to come to your home and pack your items before moving day.

On moving day, the crew leader will give you a Bill of Lading, which serves as your official moving contract. Your belongings will be loaded, transported, and then checked against the inventory list upon arrival. Inspect your items to make sure everything is in good condition before signing the Bill of Lading to complete the move.

How Much Does It Cost to Hire Apartment Movers in Olympia?

Apartment moving costs in Olympia vary depending on the:

  • Apartment size
  • Number of movers needed
  • Moving distance

Local movers typically charge hourly rates, with an average range of $700 to $3,000 for most apartment relocations. According to moveBuddha, “The typical studio apartment move involves two skilled movers, taking approximately three hours. The time needed is influenced by how many possessions you have and their type, and the cost is set at $255 per hour.” Additional factors, such as packing services or specialty items (like pianos or gun safes), may also impact the total cost. At A&E Relocation Services, we provide no-obligation estimates so our customers know what to expect before moving day. Our pricing is transparent, and we tailor each quote based on the unique needs of your move, whether it’s a studio or a multi-bedroom apartment. Our goal is to make your relocation affordable, efficient, and completely hassle-free. “The biggest cost variable is usually how much stuff you’re moving. Decluttering before your estimate can significantly reduce your final moving cost,” says Kira McIntyre, Office Manager at A&E Relocation Services. Do Olympia Movers Offer Packing and Unpacking Services?

Many Olympia apartment moving companies offer professional packing and unpacking services for an additional fee. To protect your belongings during the move, trained packers typically use:

  • high-quality boxes
  • bubble wrap
  • furniture blankets

According to Move.org, “Professional movers will come prepared to protect your expensive belongings using high-quality materials like double-walled boxes for fine china or custom-made wooden crates for artwork.” Packing and unpacking services can include everything from packing your kitchenware and electronics to unpacking dishes and reassembling furniture at your new home.

A&E Relocation Services offers flexible packing options tailored to each customer. You can choose from full-service packing, partial packing, or packing assistance for fragile items. Our experienced team uses industry-grade supplies and proven methods to ensure your belongings arrive safely and organized, ready for immediate use in your new apartment. “Many customers choose partial packing for just their kitchen and breakables because it’s the best balance between cost savings and protecting what matters most,” notes Kira McIntyre, Office Manager at A&E Relocation Services.

Are There Extra Fees for Stairs, Elevators, or Limited Parking?

Some Olympia movers charge extra for accessibility issues, like:

  • multiple flights of stairs
  • elevator restrictions
  • limited parking zones.

“If the moving truck can’t park right outside your new home, expect extra charges for long carries, stairs, elevator use, or shuttle services. These fees add up fast, especially for apartments or city moves,” states moveBuddha. These fees cover the extra time, labor, or equipment required to complete the move safely. To avoid unexpected costs, discuss access details with your mover during the quote process to ensure a smooth move.

At A&E Relocation Services, we inspect every moving location in advance during the estimate process to plan for stairs, long carries, or parking permits. All of these fees will be explicitly listed in the estimate, so you know exactly what you are paying for. If a potential surcharge applies, you’ll know before moving day.

“Reserve your building’s elevator and loading zone as soon as you book your move because some complexes require two to three weeks’ notice and charge fees if you miss the deadline,” advises Kira McIntyre, Office Manager at A&E Relocation Services.

How Far in Advance Should I Schedule My Apartment Move?

For apartment moves in Olympia, it’s best to book movers at least two to four weeks in advance, if not earlier, especially during the busy summer months. According to Move.org, “Be sure to book your company about six weeks before moving day. If you’re moving from a smaller space, you might be able to book closer to moving day, but sooner is better.” Early booking helps ensure availability and gives both you and your movers time to plan around building access schedules and elevator reservations. Last-minute moves may still be possible, but options can be limited during peak demand.

A&E Relocation Services offers flexible scheduling to meet your timeline, whether you’re planning weeks ahead or need short-notice assistance. We work closely with property managers and tenants to secure loading zones, elevator access, and permits when necessary. Our experienced team ensures that your move is coordinated seamlessly from beginning to end. “The last week of every month is always busier than the middle of the month, so booking six weeks out for those dates gives you the best selection of movers and time slots,” explains Kira McIntyre, Office Manager at A&E Relocation Services.

Are Olympia Apartment Movers Licensed, Insured, and Experienced?

Reputable movers in Olympia should be licensed, insured, and trained to handle apartment moves safely and professionally. According to this Forbes article, “[License and insurance] is non-negotiable. For interstate moves, your movers must have a USDOT number, which is a license issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. For in-state moves, regulations vary, so check your state’s requirements.” All professional moving companies in Washington State are required to hold a valid UTC license (Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission) and maintain insurance coverage to protect their employees and customers.

A&E Relocation Services is fully licensed and insured under state and federal moving regulations. Our licenses include:

  • WUTC #: HG-381
  • ICC #: MC-2934
  • Mayflower Transit US DOT #: 125563

We are an interstate agent of Mayflower Transit, so we operate under their USDOT number for long-distance moves. Our movers are trained professionals with years of experience handling all types of apartment relocations. As a company that has been moving Olympia families since 1898, we take pride in maintaining a high safety record and positive reputation throughout the Olympia area, giving our customers peace of mind on moving day.

“Always verify a company’s WUTC license number on Washington State’s website before booking because it takes two minutes and protects you from unlicensed movers who aren’t properly insured,” says Kira McIntyre, Office Manager at A&E Relocation Services.

How Will I Be Compensated If My Items Are Lost or Damaged During the Move?

All moving companies are required by law to provide valuation coverage options to protect the value of your belongings during transport. The most common types are:

  • Basic Value Protection: This valuation plan is included with every move; however, you will only receive “$0.72 per pound for each lost or damaged item, regardless of actual value,” states the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission’s Consumer Guide to Moving.
  • Full Value Protection: Although this plan costs extra, it protects the actual value of your items. “Under Full Value Protection, your mover is responsible for the replacement value of lost or damaged goods in your entire shipment,” states the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
  • Items of Extraordinary Value Declaration: Items that have a value of over $100/lb are not covered under Full Value Protection. At an additional cost, these items need to be listed on a separate Declaration, ensuring their full value is covered during the move.

Understanding your coverage before moving day helps you make an informed decision.

A&E Relocation Services offers both standard and full-value protection plans, clearly explained before your move begins. “Take a quick inventory of your most valuable items before choosing coverage because basic protection only covers weight, not actual value, so a 40-pound TV would only be covered for about $29,” explains Kira McIntyre, Office Manager at A&E Relocation Services.

Our claims process is simple, straightforward, and designed to resolve any issues quickly. Because we take every precaution during packing, loading, and transportation, claims are rare. However, when needed, we ensure that our customers are treated fairly and promptly.
