Our movers arrived at our apartment around 11:30 a.m., and because of the challenging layout, they didn’t finish until 9:00 p.m. The path from the truck to our apartment was long ,it required going through the garage, taking the elevators, and then up to our second-floor apartment.David, Dan, and Dareus were our moving crew, and from start to finish they maintained such a positive attitude and incredible work ethic. While I was unpacking and directing where boxes needed to go, they never... slowed down and kept working efficiently all day. I honestly wish they had been given more help because it was a big job, but they made it work without ever complaining. They even stayed until 10:00 p.m. to make sure everything was completed, including setting up our bunk bed and dining table as part of the move. Their dedication and professionalism did not go unnoticed.Thank you, David, Dan, and Dareus, for your hard work, positive attitude, and commitment to getting the job done right. You made what could have been a very stressful and exhausting moving day so much easier. We truly appreciate everything you did!read more

This was a military-related move. Manny, Dakota, Jeramiah, and Anthony were great. Dakota was patient, and explained a lot of what was happening, as my experience with overseas moves is non-existent. Manny and Anthony were professional and asked questions as needed, which I appreciated, because I’ve heard horror stories about military moves and trash bags being packed. So I was happy when Anthony asked me about specific items that he didn’t want to assume were for packing. Jeramiah helped with... my husband’s comic book inventory and made sure our long list of titles was printed and added to our inventory list. He was also very communicative when he was packing up our kitchen, which is probably everyone’s least favorite room. I know it’s my least favorite to pack. All in all, everyone was careful with our things, which I appreciated because it’s easy for someone to just handle items with no care especially if it’s not yours, but knowing how hard my husband and I have worked over the last 20+ years, and all the separations and deployments, a lot of these “things” and “stuff” are our memories of the good, bd, and ugly. So we cherish them. Thank you for taking care of our things. Hopefully the odds will be in our favor at our destination.Paul and Mia Carterread more

What Kinds of Services Do Olympia 3PL Companies Offer Besides Warehousing and Shipping?

Third-party logistics (3PL) companies do much more than store and move products. “Most logistics providers tailor their offerings for customers, with available services likely to include:

  • Kitting and order fulfillment
  • Cross-docking to expedite material movement
  • Domestic and international shipment
  • Customer order tracking and monitoring
  • Return processing (reverse logistics),” states Valesco Industries

These extra services and logistics processes help businesses save time, reduce overhead costs, and improve customer satisfaction.

At A&E Relocation Services, we go beyond standard warehousing and shipping to offer complete logistics support for businesses of all sizes. Our 3PL services include:

  • Warehousing and Fulfillment Services for organized storage and efficient order processing using order fulfillment processes like picking and packing
  • Inventory Management using digital tracking and cycle counts
  • First and Final Mile Delivery for smooth product movement from start to finish
  • Returns Handling and Pallet Logistics for sustainable product returns
  • Freight Solutions for coordinating larger shipments between regional and national destinations
  • Inventory Transfer for moving goods between facilities safely and efficiently
  • Port Drayage Transportation for managing short-haul freight between ports and distribution centers
  • Distribution for ensuring products reach retailers and customers on time

Every service is designed to make logistics easier for local and regional businesses. According to Kira McIntyre, Office Manager, “Most companies don’t realize how many logistics steps can be consolidated until we walk them through the process. Once everything connects, operations usually become faster and more predictable.”

How Do Olympia 3PL Providers Keep My Inventory Accurate and Secure?

3PL providers in Olympia maintain inventory accuracy and security through technology, process control, and facility safeguards. Most use barcode or RFID scanning, warehouse management systems (WMS), and cycle counting to ensure stock levels match what’s physically in storage. “Effective warehouse security cameras will be robust and feature hard-wearing weather and impact-resistant cases to protect against accidental and intentional damage,” states Pelco.com. Security measures often include:

  • 24/7 video monitoring and alarm systems
  • Restricted access for authorized staff
  • Trained warehouse personnel who follow handling protocols
  • Temperature- and humidity-controlled areas for sensitive items

Together, these measures reduce miscounts, prevent loss, and protect valuable products.

At A&E Relocation Services, we use barcoding, digital inventory systems, and real-time updates to keep every item accounted for. Our warehouse uses surveillance cameras and access control to protect all your items. Regular cycle counts and inspections help catch issues early and maintain accuracy. Kira McIntyre, A&E Office Manager, notes, “Inventory control is about consistency. By following the same checks every day, we reduce mistakes and keep products moving without interruption.”

What Tools or Software Do 3PL Companies in Olympia Use to Track Orders and Shipments?

Modern 3PL companies rely on advanced software to manage logistics. Most use:

  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for inventory tracking
  • Transportation Management Systems (TMS) for route planning and shipment visibility
  • Barcode and RFID Scanners for quick, accurate identification

These tools allow both the provider and the customer to monitor shipments in real time and make data-based decisions that improve efficiency. “Yes, you’ll have to pay to hire a 3PL, but the money you’ll likely save on inventory management software, shipping software and other e-commerce platforms will almost certainly offset this cost,” states Business News Daily.

At A&E Relocation Services, we use tracking software that provides accurate, up-to-date information on each shipment from pickup through delivery. Customers can review shipment details and timing at any point. “Reliable tracking reduces unnecessary calls and helps everyone stay informed,” states Kira McIntyre, Office Manager of A&E, “When customers can see their order status, coordination becomes much simpler for both sides.”

Do 3PL Companies in Olympia Handle Both the First and Final Mile of Delivery?

Yes, many 3PL providers handle both the first and final mile of delivery.

  • The first mile involves picking up products from manufacturers or suppliers.
  • The final mile covers delivery to retailers or customers. According to this Forbes article, “[L]ast mile involves delivery from that destination hub to businesses, stores, and consumers in the destination region.”

Because these stages often affect timing and customer satisfaction, reliable partners use route planning, GPS tracking, and optimized scheduling to keep shipments efficient.

A&E Relocation Services manages both first and final mile logistics for local and regional deliveries. Our team coordinates pickups, transfers, and last-mile shipments with attention to timing and condition. Office Manager, Kira McIntyre, says, “The first and last legs of transport require extra coordination. Small delays early on can affect the entire delivery window, so planning ahead is critical.”

How Do Olympia 3PL Companies Set Their Prices, and Are There Extra Fees I Should Know About?

3PL pricing depends on several factors, such as:

  • The amount of storage needed
  • How long the goods are stored
  • The distance shipments travel
  • Handling requirements
  • Equipment needs
  • Delivery frequency

Common models include charging by pallet, by cubic foot, or using volume-based tiers. According to Linnworks, “inbound shipping and receiving fees are typically charged either by the hour, ranging from $20-$50 per hour, or on a per-unit basis, which is charged at $5 to $15 per pallet, or $.25 per item.” Additional fees may apply for packaging, labeling, or returns management. Clear communication about these costs helps businesses plan better.

At A&E Relocation Services, we structure pricing around actual space used, service level, and delivery routes across western Washington. Because Olympia sits between Seattle and Portland, we often help customers reduce transportation expenses by grouping regional deliveries and adjusting route timing. Monthly reporting helps businesses see where they can cut costs or improve efficiency. Kira McIntyre, A&E Office Manager, explains, “Pricing in logistics is fluid because it reflects real-world variables like fuel costs, shipping costs, labor, and warehouse availability. Understanding those factors helps customers make more informed decisions about managing their supply chain.”

Can a 3PL Company in Olympia Adjust Its Services During Busy Seasons or as My Business Grows?

Flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of working with a 3PL provider. According to F. Curtis Barry & Company, “There are two major advantages of 3PL logistics to assist companies with handling high growth, these include:

  1. Efficiently handling holiday peak
  2. Expanding the distribution capabilities needed to meet your strategic plan.”

Since business needs shift with seasons or growth, many logistics companies can scale operations up or down by:

  • Adding warehouse space or staff during peak seasons
  • Expanding delivery routes or vehicle capacity
  • Adjusting fulfillment schedules for higher order volume

A responsive provider ensures that changing demand doesn’t disrupt the supply chain.

A&E Relocation Services plans operations to stay flexible year-round. We can increase staffing, adjust delivery frequency, or reallocate warehouse space based on customer needs. Office Manager, Kira McIntyre, shares, “The most successful logistics plans are adaptable. Businesses that plan for busy periods in advance avoid most of the stress that comes with seasonal spikes.”
